Welcome to Thykkattu Mahadeva Temple

The Thaikkattappan shines in the Vennala locality on the eastern frontier of Kochi municipality in Ernakulam district showering his blessing upon the devotees as a Kiratha moorthy. The main deity of Sri Mahadeva temple is a self arisen Kiraatha moorthy and is now under Thaikkadu devaswom in Vennala. The temple, which is 2000 years old, is considered as one of the most ancient temples of Kerala. The local population worship and consider the deity as the pious sight of the vigour of Lord Shiva with its calm and majestic look. The presence of Lord Vishnu and Dharma Saastha (Lord Ayyappa ) in the temple are also considered and worshiped as per tradition. The temple renovation was under taken in 1975 and after the re- consecration and ‘Sudhikalasa’ (purification ceremony) it was decided to celebrate ‘Sivaraathri ‘ festival with out any hindrance in every year .
